In addition to examining existing tools in research management, the seminar will discuss approaches that should be adopted to respect Aboriginal communities and entities’ aspirations with regard to research involving them. This seminar is also aimed at further studying the notion of data “ownership” and the implications of respecting this research principle that remains misunderstood and misconstrued and that may lead to unequal and strained relations between Aboriginal peoples and researchers. Another objective is to present inspiring examples and case studies and their challenges as well as the analysis, approval, involvement and management procedures preferred by Aboriginal peoples in the field of research.
This seminar is intended for members of Aboriginal communities and organisations having a special interest in research practices involving them. It is also intended for students, professors, researchers, managers and administrators of university, government or civil society organisations interested or involved in research with Aboriginal peoples.
